Established in 2001 by Mr. Xiaowei Ma as AGER Environmental Design, AGER is an international multidisciplinary design firm with offices in Boston, Shanghai and Beijing. All of our principal designers have studied and worked overseas for US and European based design firms, managing complex built projects; 75% of the principals are from other countries, and 20% of our design professionals have studied or worked overseas. Over the past seven years, AGER has grown to nearly 80 people, including landscape architects, architects, planners, civil engineers, graphic designers, and 3D modelers.

AGER offers integrated services in development planning, landscape architecture (including land planning and landscape design), architecture, interior design, and corporate identity design. The firm strives for a balance between preservation and land use, ecology and development achieved on the basis of flexibility and sensitivity to the unique challenges of each particular project. Development planning projects include master planning and site planning for improving or redeveloping existing urban areas, developing new urban areas, and preservation and renovation of historic sites. Landscape architecture projects include high-end hotels, and resort communities, tourist scenic areas and theme parks, golf courses, high-end residential communities and commercial development, urban and suburban parks and playgrounds, civic centers, development zones and high-tech parks, educational institutions and corporate headquarters. Architectural projects include hotels, resorts, golf clubhouses, scientific research institutions, commercial and public buildings and residential villas.

Its influence in the field of landscape architecture dates from the year that the firm was established, when it provided the Boao Forum for Asia with full landscape architectural services. This influential project was followed many influential and award-winning projects such as Shanghai Jin Lin Tian Di Entry Court and Beijing Xiangjiang Villas, gradually establishing AGER’s national reputation for excellence.
