General Brief.

Appointed as the Construction Manager, I have completed EPCM Overhead Power Distribution Projects, Sub-stations, Gold mining process plants, Materials Handling and Infrastructure projects. I have worked in and traveled to Uzbekistan, Mali, Ghana, Ivory Coast Kazakhstan, Bellarus and Moscow.

The value of these projects are > US$ 200M.

Although my discipline is electrical, my appointments have been that of Construction Manager with a brief to control the project life cycle. I work within a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment controlling local and expatriate labor as well as sub-contractors. I am also studying Russian.
I am familiar with the Russian / CIS standards rules and regulations. ( GOST and Snip )
Having spent time in Zarafshan - Uzbekistan and Kostenai Kazakhstan, I am accustomed to the people, culture and life style.
I am also studying Russian.

My brief is normally as follows:
Total site management.
Ensure HSE and QA standards are adhered to.

Ensure that all Contractors involved in construction activities implement and execute their approved QC Programs, including provision of required documentation.

Ensure that the construction activities meet the project criteria.
Provide and co-ordinate construction support to meet the commissioning and start-up activities.

Construction Manager - Inata Gold Mine Burkino Faso.
Temporary Assignment Construction Manager for new Gold Mine.

Construction Manager - Namdeb, Namibia - DMS diamond plant
Appointed as the construction manager. The project was running late, penalties were to be applied and I was requested to complete the construction portion within the scope of the contract. Objective achieved.

Construction Manager Varvarinskoye - Kazakhstan.
Appointed as the construction manager for a copper and gold mine. Unfortunately the main contractor was liquidated, end of contract.

Aug 2001 to Construction Manager AGF, Uzbekistan.
Nov 2004.
My initial appointment as the Electrical Engineer, was to design and implement the E & I portion of the project. I was responsible for the "Project life cycle" which included the MV / LV distribution, Motor control and instrumentation. I was based in the Zarafshan region of Uzbekistan, and subsequently appointed as the Construction Manager of the turnkey Gold mining project. This included the Civils, structural, E&I and mechanicals.

This project encompassed the development of a new sub-vertical shaft and infrastructure for the purpose of diamond recovery. The electrical scope included the design and construction of the following:
A new surface 88 / 11 / 3,3kV substation and switchgear.
New under ground 11kV substations and switchgear.
New 11kV shaft sub station and switch gear.
MV feeders and distribution.
Two 5MW Material winders.
One 5MW man / material winder.
One emergency Mary Anne winder.
My appointment by the principle Electrical Engineer, is to ensure that the Project life cycle is fully serviced. This required the following:
Liasion with the client.
Overseeing the preparation and submitting of design drawings.
Prepare and submit tender inquiries for equipment and materials.
Adjudicate tenders.
Prepare and present programs.
Witness Factory acceptance tests.

Feb. 2000 - Dec 2000. Construction Manager Morila Gold Mine - Mali, Central Africa.

Morila Open cast Gold Mine is situated 3hours from Bamaco, Mali and was being developed jointly by RandGold and AngloGold.
My appointment as the Construction Manager,
included the
management of all the infrastructure, eg. Housing and office development, Air-conditioning.
Mechanical, Electrical, Control & Instrumentation requirements as defined in the process design.
Oxide and Sulphide crushers, Sag and Ball mills, Conveyors, CIL, Reagents, 11kV Sub stations, power distribution and Motor Control Centres.

1998 - 1999 Construction Manager SKANSKA Ghana - West Africa.

Cape Coast Rural Electrification to 50 townships-line length +- 200km
33Kv/400v overhead reticulation for the purpose of township electrification and distribution.
My brief as Electrical Engineer was to liaise with the Consulting Engineers - Kennedy & Donkin, such that all project and safety requirements are adhered to. This included the progress planning, quality assurance, man power requirements, design requirements, installation procedures, safety and commissioning. I was sourced from Denmark to ensure that the site problems encountered by Skanska were resolved.


1995 - Dec 1997Senior Electrical Engineer HATCH Johannesburg - South Africa.

Electrical Engineer for an off furnace gas turbine and all Coal Projects within Hatch.
My duties were as follows:
Management of Electrical personnel within project.
Engineering, detail, manage, control and commission electrical projects, as well as estimating and adjudication of E & I project costs.
Samancor Elgen 50 MW Gas Turbine generation plant.
Responsible for the conceptual design to completion.
Preparing the conceptual design;
Preparing and presenting the budget;
