Universal-Ensco is an engineering and land surveying company based in Houston, TX, specializing in all phases of surveying for various underground pipeline companies. More specifically, I was a crew chief of a 3 man crew doing preliminary survey work for Florida Gas and Transmission ( our client ), working in the area of Tampa, FL. As crew chief, I was responsible for directing, with minimal supervision, the field work assigned to myself and crew related to the mapping of proposed pipeline route for expansion of existing natural gas service in and around the Tampa region. In addition to directing the field work, I was also responsible for daily timekeeping and reports of work accomplished ( via internet to Houston office ), safety meetings and reports of same, coordinating with other crews in area, direct coordination of work with landowners along route (some of whom were not happy we were there, although generally I felt this went fairly smoothly), determination of best methods to accomplish work relative to local conditions, record keeping and maintenance for company truck, recording environmental concerns
(such as protected species), as well as other duties. Unfortunately, due to reduction of company workload as a result of slowing economy, I was laid-off from this company in June-July of 2009.

A summary of my duties at these 2 companies were as a crew chief, directing field crews numbering 2 to 4 people, surveying work related to land boundaries, construction layout, topographical surveys. This work also required timekeeping, reporting, coordination with other construction crews, supervisors, and clients, equipment maintenance, decision making, etc. While at Hayes, James, and Associates, I was crew chief charged with various duties related to underground pipeline surveys. These included as-builts, construction staking, location of existing pipeline utilizing probe rods and electronic locators, inventories of pipe (both replacement pipe and removed pipe), and establishing control points.

Other work I have done in my surveying career that may be of interest includes supervising 3 to 6 field crews on a daily basis; I was charged with planning and coordinating the necessary field work required to support the engineering department of a mid-size civil engineering company in metro Atlanta area. This involved working with clients in scheduling crew, reviewing daily work, maintaining crew reports, input relative to planning for company efficiency.

I began my surveying career working for a number of years in Alabama beginning as a chainman, and progressing to crew chief and draftsman where I gained experience with the public lands system, title searches, producing plats, writing legal descriptions, direct consultation with clients, and performing office duties.

Although my permanent address is in Alabama, I am currently in Colorado Springs, CO and would be available to travel to anywhere necessary for interview, etc..

Thank you very much for your time and consideration!
