Started operating equipment in the early 1980”s. Started with H-B Zachary’s in San Antonio Texas on the I-10 project. Ran a D-8 dozer doing fill work. Also ran Cat 335 excavator filling haul trucks for the fill area. Job ended after 2 years with them and I got l
laid off.
I then went to work for EBCO Contractors out of Houston Texas who were doing the new Texas Military Institute off Camp Bullis Rd in San Antonio. Ran D-8 dozers down to D-4”s. Also ran 963 track loaders as well as rubber tire loaders for loading trucks. Ran 335 excavator for digging and installing storm, water, and sewer lines. Used 963 track loader to back fill ditch line according to back fill specs and compacted lifts to specs. Did same for water and sewer lines. Job lasted about 4 years and got laid off . Went back to H_B Zachary’s for the Sea World project.
Worked on the Sea World project running fill areas with D_8 dozer using shot rock from the quarry walls around project. Blasted 25 feet back on walls and collected shot rock for fill areas. Also used a cat 335 to load haul trucks. Also used 335 with hammer attachment to break up some rock that was to big for fill area. Also ran 963 track loader for crusher and loaded material after being crushed for fill areas. Compacted fill areas before final fill was installed. Ran 345 for storm drain and run off areas. Job lasted until 1996 and I moved to Maryland.
Went to work for Dixie Construction where I ran all types of equipment for this company .Dozers Large and small, Excavators large and small , Loaders rubber tire and track. End dumps. Also ran clearing equipment such as skidders, loaders, tree chippers , stump grinders, Went back to underground utility crew and started doing water, storm, and sewer lines. Set flow lines with laser and rod. Water lines were plastic and iron ductile, Sewer line was plastic in sizes ranging from 10 inches on down. Storm was r.c.p. in all different sizes. Left Dixie and joined The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 37 out of Baltimore Maryland .
Started with the union and worked a lot of job sites and operated all types of different equipment and also took some schooling to learn how to run the equipment better than what I was taught. Final job was with Durcon Contractors. Main piece of equipment which I ran was a 963 track loader which I loaded trucks and stock piled excess material. Also cleared new job sites of stumps and trees. Most job sites I loaded private owned dump trucks. Stayed with this company until I moved to Florida.
Started with A.P.A.C. Contractors in 2006 and worked in plant 2 operating a loader taking care of materials going out and into the yard. Also took care of plant and materials used to make asphalt. Ran other equipment on other job sites when company was short operators. Ran loaders , Dozers and excavators. Worked with this company until late 2007 and got laid off due to work slow down.
Went to work for Island Vista Estates doing maintance work for the park and taking care of anything that needed to be done. Also worked for Chandler Land Developers operating equipment for them on a part time basis.
