Chevron Global Manufacturing Company is accepting online applications for the position of Cost Estimator - SME (Subject Matter Expert) located in Richmond, California.

Overview:

This position provides project controls (schedule and cost), cost estimate validation and assurance, and cost forecasting for multiple capital projects ranging from $500,000 to $25 Million. The Cost Estimator will be responsible for all phases of the project from development to commissioning and startup.
Position Details: Key Responsibilities:

• Provide overall project controls leadership for engineering and construction contractors.
• Perform cost estimates for capital projects in conceptual/feasibility phases.
• Maintain a central Database and other tools for cost estimating.
• Develop and implement a cost estimating competency building plan.
• Provide guidelines for project escalation and contingency.
• Be responsible for quality assurance/quality control on all refining estimates greater than $5MM.
• Effectively coordinate and align with Chevron Project Resources Company (PRC) on integrating Chevron best practices into Global Manufacturing project practices.
• Participate as a team member in conjunction with PRC on selected project estimate reviews greater than $25 Million.
• Design and deliver needed cost estimating competencies to Global Manufacturing Engineers and Project Managers.
• Occasional business travel to domestic and international locations is possible.

Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 8 years experience in capital project cost estimating within a refinery or petrochemical facility.
• Proven track record in leading cost estimating projects in a refinery or petrochemical facility.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and lead change management initiatives within the organization at a variety of levels.
• Knowledge and experience working with large and simultaneous complex projects with facilities integration issues.
• Candidate expected to show an understanding of indirect and conceptual estimating theories and techniques.
• Candidate should be skilled in the application of computer software (Excel, Word and basic schedule skills in Primavera, and/or Microsoft Project: SAP or JDE) as well as estimating software. Candidate should have experience using decision analysis and probability tools.
• Demonstrated personal and leadership commitment to Safety, Reliability, and Incident and Injury Free Operations.
• Proven verbal and written communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical Engineering, or Business Administration.
• 10 years of relevant project cost estimating experience.

Relocation Options :

Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.

International Considerations :

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
