Job Description:	Description: The basic function of the survey crew chief is to supervise and direct the field crew in the completion of various types of field operations including boundary and location surveys, topographic surveys, GPS surveys, route location surveys, construction staking and other types of surveys of surveys as required by the company. Responsibilities and Duties Include: Assist the survey project manager in planning, coordinating and controlling field operations and coordinate with CADD operators in completing office computations and mapping. Provide leadership for the field crew in performing the survey in an efficient and cost effective manner. Communicate with on-site client supervisors, property owners and the general public as needed. Neatly prepare thorough and accurate field notes and sketches for all assigned projects and complete administrative tasks for time keeping and project billing. Develop and maintain proficiency in surveying methods and technologies through continuing education and training. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department or work crew. Maintain assigned vehicles and equipment by ensuring cleanliness and by promptly reporting problems. Read and interpret maps, deeds, and construction documents. Performs activities of workers supervised.
