Job Description:	Supported by a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, this registered P.E. with 15+ years of experience, including extensive HVAC design experience, will be responsible for the production of innovative, appropriate, and cost-effective designs, drawings, and specifications in his/her discipline for assigned projects. The successful candidate will also maintain professional registration and signs/seals documents prepared under his/her supervision. Specifically, the Senior Mechanical Engineer: * Participates in project strategy meetings, develops design concepts and recommends systems, within discipline, produces pricing and proposal presentation documents and outline specifications. * Design background in Industrial-type projects which include manufacturing, distribution, aviation or other similar related projects. * Researches and is responsible for discipline design compliance with proposal/client criteria. * Researches, documents and is responsible for discipline design compliance with all applicable codes, ordinances, standards and regulations. * Plans production and prepares man-hour estimate for project effort for all work in discipline, ensures adherence to drawing production strategy, is responsible for the production of well-organized, finished drawings of good appearance, accuracy, clarity and correctness and writes discipline specifications for assigned projects. * Directs technical efforts of discipline interns, designers and technicians assigned to the project. * Assists in coordinating information with and monitoring efforts/costs of discipline-related outside consultants. * Creates discipline work plan for assigned projects and monitors workload status, advising supervisor of difficulties in accomplishing schedules. * Coordinates work with other disciplines. * Responsible for placement of safety symbols on construction documents. * Signs and seals design documents when assigned as Professional of Record. * Advises and assists construction project managers, superintendents and subcontractors in the interpretation and clarification of construction documents. * Reviews applicable shop drawings and submittal data for compliance with construction documents. * Participates in construction inspection to monitor compliance with design intent, construction drawings and specifications and prepares inspection reports. * Participates in formulation of discipline standards and procedures. * Participates in the professional community and trade organizations within discipline. Qualifications include: * Design background in Industrial-type projects which include manufacturing, distribution, aviation or other similar related projects. * Proven leadership and management skills. * Demonstrated history of managing a team of 3-6 direct reports * Prior experience in making formal client presentations as member of a team * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * LEED accreditation a plus.
