This position is located in the Office of Facilities Engineering and Operations (OFEO). The incumbent in this position performs a variety of duties to include constructing and repairing walls, foundations structures or systems of brick block, tile, concrete, glass or other similar materials.

Note: Status candidates and candidates eligible under a special appointing authority (e.g., applicants with a disability or applicants eligible for a special appointing authority for veterans) who wish to be considered under both the agency merit placement program and competitive procedures open to the public through the Delegated Examining Unit (DEU) process, must submit two complete applications. When one application is received from status candidates, it will be considered only under the agency merit placement program. When one application is received from non-status candidates without specifying a desire for consideration under VEOA or a special appointing authority, it will be considered only through the DEU process.

Major Duties:

At Grade 10: Maintains and repairs all assigned masonry on high, low and related areas of a building. Plans elements of the job and chooses the appropriate materials, tools, and equipment. Repairs and points up stone work, grouting joints, patching, and grinding; cleaning and polishing, cutting, refinishing, setting and drilling masonry items, laying and resetting loose and missing tile and stone; utilizes a specialized array of cleaning agents to clean marble and stone work on landmark buildings. The incumbent lays up brick, block, limestone, clay tiles, cobblestones, marble, flagstone, curt stone, and related elements in the repair of construction of walkways, driveways, walls and surrounding areas. Sets enameled, glazed and unglazed ceramic, resilient, or acoustic tile in the construction, repair or alteration of walls, partitions, floors, ceilings, counter tops and other surfaces. Cuts, sets, resets, repairs, and patches ornamental tile structures including complicated and restored patterns.
