Job Description: Summary Description

Coordinates the work of the survey crew in the field and ensures completion of calculations.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Includes the following - Other duties may be assigned:



* Collect physical features of the land using various types of survey equipment such as levels, total stations and GPS.
* Establishes property lines.
* Research deeds and maps.
* Coordinates the work of the survey crew to determine elevations and to stake boundaries for mapmaking, construction, land, and other surveys.
* Reduces electronic field notes in the computer network, and extracts electronic data for field use.

* Collects field notes using both paper field book and electronic field book.
* Prepares existing conditions plans for design.

Competencies



Language
Ability to read and interpret documents and procedures, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence or governmental regulations.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and employees of the organization.



Mathematical
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.



Reasoning
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.





Education/Experience
An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying and 4 years surveying experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Must have the ability to operate a computer and basic computer software related to surveying and data collection.



Anticipated Working
While performing the duties of this job, the employee primarily works outside. Potential for extended travel to remote job sites working extended workdays.

However the employee will sometimes work in an office environment performing computer operations.


Conditions
Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and vehicles and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the outdoor work environment can be loud.
