Job Description: Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking a well organized individual with excellent verbal, written, presentation, and customer service skills to join the Facilities Team as our Chief Engineer.

Essential Functions:
Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Chief Engineer is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and performing the activities related to maintenance, repairs and improvements to PPLA sites in compliance with established local, state, and federal standards. Responsible for day-to-day supervision of assigned employees. This position also includes, but is not limited to:

* Ensure all PPLA centers and facilities are in safe, working condition and meet PPLA standards of appearance and comfort
* Oversee the maintenance and continuous operation of all facility systems including: fire/life safety, mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, controls) electrical (lighting, UPS, PDU, generators, primary switch gear), cabling (data and voice, broad band), lighting and temperature controls systems, critical environments, light construction (painting, doors, locks), digital systems (fire alarm, duress, card access, CCTV), and Audio/Visual services
* Routinely visit and inspect all PPLA locations and engage Center Managers
* Proactively address issues and ensures timely completion of all repair orders
* Ensure all maintenance logs, service records and work tickets are current, accurate and accessible
* Supervise and manage engineers and maintenance staff including hiring, training and personal development
* Inspect and review 3rd party services and repairs to ensure facilities are maintained to PPLA standards, and that work is completed within the terms of the Service Level Agreements
* Identify the maintenance objectives of the facilities and incorporate those objectives into a documented plan that includes preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance procedures
* Assist in the development of a capital budget plan which would include planning for infra-structure upgrades, equipment replacements and facility modifications to ensure the facility’s future capabilities are maintained
* Maintain all infrastructure and compliance documentation for the facilities department including up-to-date building drawings and single-lines as well as documentation mandated for the purpose of maintaining regulatory compliance with Federal, State or Local law



Skills / Requirements

Requirements:

* Able to perform complex analytical work in providing support for environmental, water, sewer, and electrical systems, in HQ and the field
* Able to read and interpret blueprints
* Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service
* Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel
* Must have a valid California driver’s license
* Able to lift/move items weighing more than 50 lbs using safe lifting techniques
* Ability to work independently and as a team member
* Ability to read and implement written instructions
* Ability to relate to diverse communities


Education and Experience:

* High School diploma or GED equivalent
* Minimum of 5 years experience in building operations, engineering and equipment and systems maintenance, including supervisory experience
* Experience supporting multiple sites
