Job Description:	Job Description - Develop and maintain the visual identity and commercial aesthetics of all areas of the store with responsibility for all carpentry and construction related activities - Contribute to an inspirational and convenient shopping experience for our customers through support of the Communication & Interior Design team - Support and maintain Range Presentation solutions to a high quality standard within the framework of the carpentry function - Convert design ideas and develop and apply them to strengthen the store experience for the customer while meeting business goals - Support commercial business needs with simple, cost-efficient solutions and effective use of time and materials to reach desired goals and results - Utilize formal documentation and process to plan and organize work loads within established timelines - Procure, manager and oversee outside contractors and vendors as needed - Provide guidance to the Communication & Interior Design and Maintenance teams regarding carpentry and construction standards and practices and ensure they are understood and consistently upheld in the store - Maintain all areas of responsibility on the sales floor “in shape as new” by implementing basic actions and routines - Maintain carpentry supplies and inventory by monitoring stock levels, anticipating needs and placing and receiving orders - Remain current and up to date on building, construction, carpentry trends and advancements as it relates to residential and commercial environments - Promote a safe working environment for fellow co-workers, customers and visitors by minimizing construction on the sales floor and by reporting any safety hazards, concerns or ideas for improvement - Ensure personal work area is clean and organized following waste management guidelines - Support and develop co-operation with fellow co-workers, through working closely together, sharing knowledge and showing understanding of each other’s responsibilities in order to present the range in the most commercially profitable way; reflecting our range priorities, low price profile and unique offer Requirements Internal: 1 - 3 years IKEA experience as a co-worker and experience in carpentry, maintenance or equivalent field/function External: 3 – 7 years experience in construction, building or equivalent field/function, including but not limited to a formal apprenticeship program in carpentry and woodworking - Deep knowledge of carpentry – rough, finish and trim and understanding of various building materials and finishes suitable for a retail environment - Ability to review and understanding construction documents and drawings and build to requirements - Ability to work with both Imperial and Metric measurements - Knowledge of building codes - Computer aptitude – including Microsoft Office applications and internal IKEA systems Effective verbal and written skills in the English language - Proficiency in the use of power tools and equipment - Attention to detail with a keen eye for aesthetics - Problem analysis and decision making skills - Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to define scope of work and meet project deadlines - Ability to coach others on safety and use of equipment - Strong attention to detail in order to maintain Basic Actions and adhere to IKEA policies and guidelines - Basic math skills - Contribute to an environment where the IKEA culture is a strong and living reality that embraces the diversity of co-workers and customers Work Location: Fast-paced, deadline driven, high volume retail store - Physical/Mental Demands (Essential Functions): Having the ability to access and observe all areas of the store; to handle multiple and changing priorities/deadlines and moderate stress; to communicate with customers and co-workers and manage conflict; to lift and move 50 lbs (25 kg); to use the PC for extended periods during the shift; to wear PPE (personal protective equipment); and to use small power tools and related equipment. - Physical/Mental Demands (Non Essential Functions): Bending, stretching, reaching, climbing, lifting and wearing required IKEA uniform - Travel: Limited domestic and overnight travel
