Land Survey Party Chief

Job Description:	Primary Job Responsibilities * Works in the field collecting, recording and calculating survey data that will be used to make detailed maps of an area of land, and to determine parcel boundaries. * Data obtained includes survey monuments, topographic features with elevations, land areas, and survey control monument verifications. · Additional responsibilities include managing a field crew when necessary. · Operates GPS, robotic, and traditional survey equipment to complete topographic and/or boundary property surveys. · Calculates angles and distances, coordinates, alignments, and performs other field calculations. · Sets reference stakes for construction layout or boundary designation. · Maintains survey equipment. · Downloads data collected electronically, and communicates effectively with office personnel. · Performs office tasks in support of work done in field, and for company administrative purposes. · Must be willing to travel as necessary. Training and Experience * Vocational/technical training preferred, plus basic surveying classes from a community college or equivalent instrument operator experience. * Minimum 8 years working on a survey crew, with lead crew-member experience. * Minimum 8 years experience with land survey field oriented software. * Must be able to work alone, and problem solve in the field. * Must be fully functional in the operation of Trimble 5800/R8 GPS receivers, Trimble TDS2 data collectors and its related software, Trimble S6 robotic total stations, Trimble TGO software. * Must understand field point collection coding techniques, and DTM feature recognition while in the field. * Must be capable on a Windows operating system based computer.
