Job Description:	Job Summary UPMC Presbyterian is hiring a full-time carpenter to help support the day to day operations of the In-house Construction Department for its Oakland location. This position will perform an assortment of carpenter duties with wood, metal and building materials; construct and/or maintain furniture, fixtures, structural and architectural parts of the hospital. This position will be working Monday through Friday - 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Responsibilities - Perform all work following infection control procedures. - Maintain clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas. - Order material necessary for any job. - Record personal work orders and submit hours on a daily basis. - Construct and maintain structural and architectural woodwork, equipment, and fixtures. Inspect work site and read blue prints or instructions to determine nature of work. Calculate quantities of materials needed and obtain lumber, hardware and other supplies. - Repair furniture, windows, floor or structural and architectural woodwork by measuring, sawing, squaring, fitting, sanding and nailing, or other processes where articles require closely fitted parts. - Build millwork, construct casework per print and perform masonry repairs as needed. - Perform rough and finished carpentry. Basic Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent is required. - Completion of an industry recognized three-year apprenticeship program in carpentry or, equivalent on-the-job training, plus two additional years' experience as a journeyman carpenter. - Must be skilled with the use of all woodworking tools. - This training includes such skills as blueprint reading, shop arithmetic, knowledge of strength of materials and their characteristics. - Knowledge of building codes is essential. Licensure/Certifications -Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License. -Must also attain Act 33 Child clearance and Act 73 FBI clearance within 30 days of hire.
