Job Description:	The Cambridge Housing Authority seeks qualifies applicants for the above position within the Operations Department of the Cambridge Housing Authority. This position is responsible for a wide range of skilled repair and maintenance activities for various plumbing and HVAC systems throughout CHA's numerous developments. Duties include, but are not limited to, the installation and/or repair of domestic cold/hot water heating equipment and systems, together with all associated gas work/connections. This position is responsible for the installation, repair or replacement of stoves, circular pumps, mixing valves, waste/soil/vent systems, etc. The successful candidate will be a Master Plumber, fully licensed within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He/she will have ten or more years or relevant experience with a wide variety of complex plumbing, heating and hot water systems. Demonstrated experience with a variety of gas fired system within low rise, high rise, new construction and monderization/rehabilitation projects is necessary. The ability to read plans and specifications is also required. Although this position is responsible for the full range of plumbing responsibilities, preferred candidates will have demonstrable ability to quickly contribute to the Agency's efforts in preparation for the upcoming heating season. Therefore, experience with service and repair of gas fired heat and domestic hot water systems is also considered a plus. In addition to the above, qualified applicants will possess comprehensive knowledge of local, state and federal plumbing codes, as well as in-depth knowledge of equipment, materials, applications and installations requirements. This assignment requires solid oral and written communication skills coupled with the ability to coordinate permit application procedures and to create and file various reports to regulatory agencies. Applicants must be able to perform manual work, including heavy lifting. A valid Massachusetts driver's license is a position requirement.
Company Description:	The Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA) is a governmental entity established under state law in 1935, by the City of Cambridge, with a mission to develop and manage affordable housing for the residents of Cambridge, Massachusetts. The CHA fulfills that mission by: * The ownership and management of over 2,700 units of housing * The administration of over 2,300 Housing Choice vouchers * Continued development of affordable units * A wide range of tenant services A five member Board of Commissioners governs the CHA, four Board Members are appointed by Cambridge's City Manager and the Governor's Designee (Director of the Commonwealth's Department of Housing and Community Development) appoints one Board Member. Currently two Board members are also residents of public housing. The Board of Commissioners appoints an Executive Director to oversee the daily operation of the housing authority, and ensure that the Board's policies are implemented. Currently, the CHA has over 160 employees and operates with an annual budget over $60,000,000.
